Golem
An article here about an uptick in interest in the Golem. No, not the band Golem. No, not that Gollum) either. Information on the Maharal of Prague here.
Comments on Rabbi Josh’s Blog “Golem” Taken from the a Prague Journal The article in the Prague Journal reveals the ignorance of all people of any race, who place their trust in any non-living object which is supposedly brought to life by a living finite being which was brought to life by the only giver of life, the Lord God Almighty of Israel, sovereign of the Universe. The Lord God is not only the only giver of life, but He is the sole protector of anyone including the Jewish people. The golem does not protect the “social values” of God’s children, the Jews, but they are protected only by each individual striving continually for knowledge about God and indulging in continued prayer and living out what we have learned from God and His inspired word the Torah and Tenack. The golem may have been a reminder to the Jewish children of God, of the values that He, the Lord God, had given them in the face of antagonistic rhetoric (and worse) by people they were forced to live with. But that is only like a child taking comfort from hugging a doll instead of loving their creator and putting their trust in Him. This will occur when they grow up.
